MCD Awards

–The MCD Awards were established in 1997 to provide support for educators who pioneer innovative, creative educational strategies in the classroom and system-wide. The awards for the 2007-2008 year total over $22,000.

MCD² Awards support the replication in Chesterfield County Public Schools of projects initially funded by the Chesterfield Public Education Foundation’s MCD Award Fund, or, to maximize the potential of good projects originally started with an MDC Award.

The MCD Award were established in 1997 to provide support for educators who pioneer innovative, creative educational strategies in the classroom and system-wide. The awards for the 2006-2007 year total over $21,000.

Teacher of the Year Award

– Teachers are nominated from each of Chesterfield’s 60 schools in recognition for his/her dedication and professional excellence. The annual awards gala dinner brings over 350 guests annually to honor the nominees and to hear who will be chosen Teacher of the Year for Chesterfield County.

Communities In Schools

– CIS is the nation’s largest non-profit drop-out prevention program serving at-risk students from elementary through high school. CIS of Chesterfield is recognized as a model program and we have been a partner in their work for over 10 years. The program provides volunteer mentoring, job shadowing, and tutoring as well as health and social support services to three elementary schools, an alternative middle school and Chesterfield High School.

From Crayons to Computers Store

– A retail depot where CCPS teachers get free supplies and merchandise for use in their classrooms. Items range from office and school supplies to furniture and computers. The store is located at 7138 Midlothian Turnpike (in the back of Beaufont Mall). To donate supplies, call (804) 276-7407

The BCWH Architects’ Schools & Community Prize is to recognize an elementary school, a middle school and a high school for a collaborative effort with the community.

CCPS Curriculum Academy serves as a staff development opportunity for Chesterfield’s teachers, administrators, central office staff and community partners.

Teacher Recognition Awards

– Funds have been established to recognize teaching excellence.

The Baskerville Crouch-Reider Award
Honors a teacher of foreign language.

Innovation Awards for 21st Century Learning
Recognizes innovation in teaching in the areas of Middle School and High School mathematics, science and technology integration.

The Keith Jonas Memorial Award
Provides opportunities for professional development or preparation in the area of teaching and/or counseling gifted students.

Event: First Alumni Directories Underway

Event Description: CPEF has contracted with Harris Connect to produce the first CCPS alumni directories for the high schools. When you receive a card or a phone call, we hope that you will participate. We want you to connect with the alumni where you are living and to keep you informed about the work of the Foundation and the accomplishments of the CCPS students and teachers.
